摘要
There is general agreement among faculty members that office hours are underutilized by students. However, the reasons students at a large, diverse, urban community college do not seek out extracurricular help from their faculty members are as varied as the student population itself. This study surveyed students concerning the reasons they may choose, or not choose, to attend their instructors' office hours. Based on student feedback and input, changes to the structure of office hours, broadly applicable to faculty in other fields and at other schools, are suggested.
