Over the past many years, the beet, sugar and distillery industries have had to cope with a number of adverse factors that have caused a considerable production uncertainty. These include the ban on the use of neonicotinoids in the cultivation of sugar beet, the abolition of the obligation to add bio-based ingredients to fossil fuels, and, naturally, the rise in energy prices, particularly in the last two years, while the price of production inputs has been rising for the last 30 years without a significant increase in e.g., the price of sugar. However, there are also factors with a positive potential. These include the legal anchoring of defence spending in the Czech Republic, the general increase in defence spending in NATO member states, in conjunction with the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation's signing up to environmental goals, which will also have a knock-on effect on the Czech Republic and its defence policy. This means a prospective increase in demand for all means of achieving these goals, especially when it comes to bio-based components added to fossil fuels.
