TITLE. A conciliating proposal for the appointment of the members of the general council for the judi

The Council for the Judiciary in Spain is currently in a truly complicated situation. Since December 3, 2018, the CGPJ has not been renewed and remains in office, which is deteriorating the institutional functioning of our democratic system and consequently leading to its delegitimization. The situation has come to such an extent that the President of the governing body, made up of judges, has been forced to resign, thereby pro-ducing an unprecedented institutional crisis. This paper offers a proposal for the election of the members of the Council that allows reconciling the European demands and those of the main opposition party, PP, in relation to this issue and the position taken by the government party, PSOE. Proposal that tries to combat the interest of political parties to control the Council and, consequently, avoid blocking situations in its renewal.
