摘要
Medicine is changing at a rapid pace, and so too is the field of medical education. One of the most significant forces of change has been the introduction of new educational technologies, such as interactive websites, simulation and teleconferencing. Innovations in information science, diagnostics, and therapeutic medicine have also impacted the learning experience for students. This trend towards increasing technological complexity in medical education is not necessarily a positive one. In this paper, we examine the successes and struggles to incorporate new technologies at the University of Toronto, using examples to illustrate broader concepts about medical education in the digital age. By doing so, we demonstrate that technology has the power to both simplify and complicate the manner in which future physicians are trained and therefore must be used only after careful consideration.
