Effects of quantum dots on the properties of ferroelectric liquid crystal

摘要
The properties of ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) in the mixtures of FLC and quantum dots have been studied. The theory is modelled with well-known Flory-Huggins theory and Landau theory. The effect quantum dots concentrations and temperature on the pitch length, spontaneous polarisation and tilt angle in the chiral smectic-C* phase of the smectic-A to chiral smectic-C* transition has been discussed. Theoretical analysis shows the increase of the pitch length, spontaneous polarisation and tilt angle with the increase of concentrations of quantum dots in the quantum dots-doped FLC system.A qualitativee comparison between theoretical and experimental results has been discussed.
