摘要
Background: Intimate partner violence (IPV) is prevalent in the United States and may escalate during pregnancy. Therefore, an IPV telehealth clinical simulation learning experience for senior-level maternal nursing students with a standardized live patient was created, implemented, and evaluated by faculty. Methods: Trauma-and violence-informed care was the framework for this telehealth simulation. Results: Faculty created a video conferencing telehealth clinical experience that will continue to be utilized in the future. A unique "re-debrief" session was created in response to student learning needs. Conclusion: Student nurses need clinical experiences where they can safely practice caring for diverse populations, especially regarding IPV. Telehealth experiences are ideally suited to meet learning needs and student outcomes. Therefore, additional opportunities for assessing IPV risk and providing care should be incorporated throughout the nursing curriculum.
