摘要
This article aims to analyze the raising of /o/ tonic spoken in Cameta-PA, under the bias of Variationist Sociolinguistics (LABOV, 2008). The linguistic material analyzed came from narratives of personal experiences of 18 participants, all from Cameta, belonging to the rural area of Cameta, stratified into: gender, age group and education. From this corpus, 1032 data were obtained, which, after being submitted to a statistical analysis (SANKOFF; TAGLIAMONTE; SMITH, 2005), indicated the low probability of occurrence of /o/ similar to [u], with a relative weight of 0.072. The social conditioners of this phonological process were little schooling and the third age group, relative weight of 0.863 and 0.757, respectively.
