ARCHBISHOPS OF NOVGOROD IN THE MEMORIAL PRACTICE OF THE SOLOVETSKY MONASTERY OF THE 15th - 17th CENTURIES

The article is devoted to the study of the tradition of the funeral commemoration of Novgorod archbishops in the Solovetsky Monastery in the 16(th) - 17(th) centuries. The memorial donations of Novgorod archbishops to the Solovetsky Monastery are analyzed on the basis of the data of synodics, donation books and feed books. The author came to the conclusion that only 8 out of 22 archbishops who ruled the Novgorod diocese made a memorial donation to the Solovetsky Monastery. Most of the donations were minimally sufficient for commemoration in the monastery. This indicates that commemoration in the Solovetsky Monastery was not considered significant by Novgorod archbishops and was not a tradition of the Novgorod diocese.
