Semiotics in circulation: from the archive of Roman Jakobson

Roman Jakobson's archive in MIT is a privileged space to reconstruct some fundamental episodes of the history of the humans sciences in the second half of the 20th century, as well as reread some of its key episodes, among which the foundation of the Semiotics International Association is especially notable. Through this archive, the possibility emerges to reconstruct some of the challenges and conflicts linked to the institutionalization of semiotics, as was the cas of the controversy with A. J. Greimas and the crossed discussions between Tel Quel and Change in the French vanguard, as well as see how this circulated internationally and how semiotics was adjusted in different national spaces.
