摘要
Despite several demonstrations of electrochemical deviceswithlimits of detection (LOD) of 1 cell/mL, the implementation of single-cellbioelectrochemical sensor arrays has remained elusive due to the challengesof scaling up. In this study, we show that the recently introducednanopillar array technology combined with redox-labeled aptamers targetingepithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) is perfectly suited forsuch implementation. Combining nanopillar arrays with microwells determinedfor single cell trapping directly on the sensor surface, single targetcells are successfully detected and analyzed. This first implementationof a single-cell electrochemical aptasensor array, based on Brownian-fluctuatingredox species, opens new opportunities for large-scale implementationand statistical analysis of early cancer diagnosis and cancer therapyin clinical settings.
