］ Changes of tort law have reflected changes and dev elopment of society and economy since modern time in a most direct way.Economic development not only results in a greater hazard in society,but also broadens disparity between the injuring and the injured parties in many respects,such as knowledge.Elements constituting tort,therefore,change a lot accordingly.For example,traffic accide nt lawsuits arose from motorization in late 1950’s;public nuisance actions in 19 70’s;and lawsuits relating to electric appliances used at home.All illustrates c hanges taken place in last century.The author studies changes in tort law throug h briefing us research on relevant theories conducted by Japanese civil law scho lars,legislation on special regulations and development of cases in Japan.
