On the first day of 2003, the price of Red Flag Mingshi car, made by FAW Car Co., was reduced by 10,800 yuan or 6.4 %; the move was soon followed by Odyssey of Guangzhou Honda, with its price cut by 20,000-30,000 yuan; the average reduction range of Hunan Liebao’s SUV was 12% and the price of Changhe Big Dipper slashed 1,000-10,000 yuan. Insiders note that, along with the increasing fierceness of the competition, other brands are also likely to follow them.
