Forty Cases of Insomnia Treated by Multi-output Electric Pulsation and Auricular Plaster Therapy

The writer has treated 40 cases of insomnia by the method of multi-output electric pulsation in combination with auricular plaster therapy (with a seed of Vaccariae segetalis 王不留行 taped tightly to a particular ear point and pressed) and received satisfactory therapeutic effects. A report follows. General Data Forty cases were enrolled from outpatients in the Department of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, with cases of mental disorders or cerebral organic disorders excluded. Of them, 16 cases were males and 24 females; 20 cases aged from 18-35 years, 12 from 36-50 years, and 8 over 51 years. The duration of sickness was from 2 weeks to 30 years. 65% of cases had to take tranquilizers for sleep.
