A New steroidal saponin was isolated from the rhizomes of Smilax lebrunii. On the basis of spectral and chemical methods, its structure was elucidated as:(25S)spirost-5-en-3β, 17α, 27-triol-3-0-[β-D-glucopyranosyl(1-4)][α-L-arabinopyranosyl(1-6)]-β-D-glucopyranoside.
