Vocabulary is so important in language use that vocabulary teaching plays a crucial role in language teaching and learning. This paper highlights five areas in vocabulary teaching, i.e.differences between Chinese and English, connotation, collocation, formal and informal vocabulary and linking words. The aim is to help students to be able to understand vocabulary items accuratedly and use them appropriately.
