Distribution of fecal coliform group in the coastal waters in Xiamen Harbor was investigated. The detectable numbers of fecal coliform group were generally 10~2—10~3/1000 ml or 10~3—10~4/1000ml, except more than 10~4/1000ml at a few stations contaminated severely. The numbers were influenced by tidal change, decreasing in the order of low tide>ebb
