Asean is once again in the international limelight.Remarkable success on securi-ty issues highlights the Third Asean Regional Forum(ARF)Meeting held inJakarta on 23 July 1996,preceeded or followed by the 29th annual Asean Ministe-rial Meeting(AMM)and the Post Ministerial Conference.Indeed,since its birthin 1994,ARF has all along scored high marks on upholding regional peace and sta-bility by providing a valuable channel for exchange of views on security matters a-mong nations in Asia and the Pacific Rim.
