摘要
In this study, we propose a novel algorithm for optimum resource allocation over a time and wavelength division multiplexing passive optical network (TWDM-PON) architecture. This is done by addressing optical types of system resources (i.e., bandwidth and wavelengths) and focusing on the optical distribution network. A search algorithm based on Branch and Bound (BB) is adopted to optimize the optical resource allocation to ensure the optimal utilization of network resources. The resource allocation is optimized by considering the current demands of different services and mapping the services to an optical network unit (ONU). In this work, the proposed BB algorithm solves the resource allocation problem to maximize the utilization efficiency of available resources by 60-70% with respect to a baseline case.
