摘要
Multiple treatments have shown preliminary efficacy for the treatment of alcoholic hepatitis. These treatments address different pathophysiologic pathways, including hepatocyte regeneration, changing the microbiome, and antioxidants. Many of these approaches use relatively inexpensive treatments that are currently available, although not for alcoholic hepatitis. Other treatments would require support from pharmaceutic companies. Given the burden of AH in many countries, the potential adverse events with corticosteroid treatment (or contraindications to corticosteroids), and the positive preliminary data with several agents, trials of new agents for the treatment of AH are reasonable.
