摘要
The focus of this paper is to investigate the effects of short-crestedness and currents on the dynamic behavior of a wave-energy harvesting platform. After establishing its motion equation, the performance under both operational and severe conditions is simulated in the time domain, which includes some factors such as the current velocity, current direction, and wave distribution. The wave-current interactions are considered to predict the responses of this harvesting system. Additionally, the current study analyzes the responses of the platform motion and mooring line tension within the low-frequency and wave-frequency ranges. Meanwhile, the frequency-domain response spectra are also used to explore the characteristics of the motion and tension responses. Moreover, the motion phase plots evaluate the platform stability performance under severe conditions. The results indicate that the presence of currents alters the magnitude of wave excitation forces, which significantly affects the dynamic behavior of this harvesting system. In summary, the analytical framework and methods introduced in this paper could offer some insights into the design of ocean energy systems under a realistic sea environment. (c) 2025 Author(s).
