摘要
BackgroundBibliometric analysis is a methodology to estimate the publication trends in a particular field of research over a period providing a vision for future research. Researchers have focused on the mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists in diabetic kidney disease in the last few years. This study researched the role of the mineralocorticoid receptor in diabetes using a bibliometric approach.ObjectiveMain objective of current bibliometric study is to check the recent trends in research focusing on the role of mineralocorticoid receptors in diabetes.MethodArticles in diabetes research were retrieved from the Dimensions databases. VOSviewer 1.6.8 explored the publication trend, authors, countries, organizations, journals, author keywords, and research categories.ResultsWe identified 1517 articles published on diabetes research. The annual publication trend increased after year 2000 with a peak increase after 2019. Bertram A Pitt (n = 69, 4.54%), published the most articles with the highest citations. The USA was the leading country with maximum publications and collaborations with other countries. University of Michigan-Ann Arbor from the USA was the top organization with the most articles (n = 64) and citations (n = 3727). European Heart Journal published the highest number of articles (n = 54); however, the New England Journal of Medicine published fewer articles (n = 6) with the highest number of citations and total link strength. The analysis of author keywords showed kidney disease as the most correlated research topic.ConclusionOur study discovered the structure, evolution trends, and hotspots of the mineralocorticoid receptor and diabetes research. Surplus research and more collaboration are desirable.
