摘要
Implementing convenient, cost-effective public charging infrastructure for passenger electric vehicles is critical to enable widespread adoption. By adapting basic smart metering technology and power electronic control to low-cost end-use infrastructure, ubiquitous and affordable public charging can be supported. We propose a simple smart meter design for conventional 120 V or 240 V electrical receptacles to support sufficient energy transfer to meet the needs of 95% of daily driving. The contribution of this work is a prototype design, a feasibility demonstration of how such a device can become a default widespread infrastructure solution, and plans for a substantial pilot test.
