Clavicle fractures in adolescents: to operate or not to operate?

Clavicle fractures are common in all age groups. Adolescents are particularly affected - especially in connection with sport. Treatment is usually conservative. However, surgical interventions have increased significantly in the last 15 years, according to the FACTS study group. The comparison of surgical and conservative treatment of fractures with comminution and/or shortening showed no particular advantages for 14-18 year olds.
