During the Sixteenth and Seventeenth centuries, science and literature dialogue continually, the concept of science being far from that of today. The present essay looks at the fertile intersection between the disciplines in the two centuries in question, in the second part examining the rich milieu within which female writers, previously excluded from the world of learning, found a new standing.
