Ethics as a branch of practical philosophy deals with the evaluation of human actions. In healthcare, particularly high moral demands are placed on the practitioners. The law predominantly attempts to enforce these demands on doctors and psychotherapists by imposing many duties and the requirement to respect patients' rights. Economic constraints, on the other hand, mean that different standards are sometimes applied within the healthcare system. This leads to tensions.
