摘要：

In this article I intend to share my memories, personally and professionally, as a member of the group involved with the Consortium of European Research Libraries (CERL) in the early years after 1989. My personal memories evoke my career and the fraternity and friendship inspired by CERL. Professionally, I try to show the most decisive aspects of my participation on behalf of the National Library of Portugal in an initiative that by encouraging co-operation among European research libraries made it possible to bring together and enable access to early European printed culture.
