Design of Dynamic Proportional Fairness Scheduling Algorithm for Multi-User Indoor VLC Systems

摘要
Supporting reliable and efficient access network for large-scale users is one of the future development directions of indoor visible light communication (VLC). An efficient and fair user scheduling scheme plays a crucial role in optimizing network resource allocation, enhancing system capacity, and ensuring service quality. In this paper, a dynamic proportional fairness (DPF) scheduling algorithm is proposed to address the problem of excessive scheduling delay for some users that may exist under the existing proportional fairness (PF) scheduling algorithm. When designing the user scheduling priority factor, both user rate and scheduling delay are considered simultaneously, and priority compensation is performed for users with relatively large scheduling delay to improve user fairness. Simulation results demonstrate that compared to existing PF scheduling algorithm, the DPF scheduling algorithm can enhance the user fairness index by approximately 6% while maintaining a similar system capacity.
