摘要
Large-scale refugees pose security risks to the host community. Bangladesh is experiencing several security issues because of the enormous influx of Rohingyas. The purpose of this study is to explore the complex security dynamics in Cox's Bazar due to the existence of militant groups in Rohingya camps and its impact on host communities. This study used a qualitative approach to examine the dynamics of the security issue in Cox's Bazar caused by Rohingya militants. Following the analysis, this study found that there were various militant groups in the camps engaged in drug trafficking, arms fighting and trading, contract killing, abduction and kidnapping, and sexual harassment. The Rohingya militant groups recruit young people through intimidation and use them for trading drugs at the grassroots level. Rohingya militant groups have often murdered people to gain control of the drug trade and establish dominance in the camps. The findings suggest that the Bangladesh government should develop strategic plans and enhance surveillance to detect and destroy Rohingya militants' camps while collaborating with non-governmental organisations and international non-governmental organisations to promote internal harmony and peace between host communities and Rohingya refugees.
