Experimental investigation on the soot formation characteristics of diesel impinging flame in an opposed multi-burner gasifier

摘要
Soot from incomplete combustion of diesel is an important environmental pollutant. The monitoring and effective control of soot generated during combustion is the focus of current research. In this work, based on a CMOS camera coupled with 577 nm and 650 nm filters, temperature and KL factor of the two-burner diesel impinging flame were calculated using the two-color method, and the two-dimensional distributions of the flame temperature and KL factor with different [O/C]e were obtained. The [O/C]e referred to the equivalence ratio of O to C. The results showed that soot was mainly generated at the periphery of the impinging zone, and the major reason for the formation of soot at the periphery of the impinging zone was that the entrainment vortex prolonged the residence time of fuel. As [O/C]e increased the main location of soot formation shifted toward the injection zone. Increasing [O/C]e effectively reduced the soot concentration. The oxygen concentration and flame temperature were important factors affecting the soot concentration. The macroscopic process of soot formation in two-burner diesel impinging flame was revealed.
