摘要
Benign gynecological conditions (BGCs) are responsible for a significant burden of unrecognized morbidity, preventable suffering, and poor quality of life for women and girls, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The consequences of BGCs extend beyond immediate symptoms, with menstrual disorders, for example, being strongly associated with girls' absenteeism from school. Additionally, there is complex interplay between reproductive health events and the risk of developing chronic disease, and prioritizing the management of BGCs could help address modifiable risk factors for other noncommunicable diseases. In order to elevate gynecological conditions to global health priorities, the scale and scope of the problem must be highlighted.
