摘要
Cyrtina koenigshofi n. sp. is introduced as a new species from the upper Emsian of the Rhenish Massif (Rheinisches Schiefergebirge, Germany). It is distinguished from most other species of Cyrtina by the very high ventral valve, catacline to slightly procline ventral interarea, the presence of numerous costae (8-12 per flank) and the rounded dorsal fold. The new species is restricted to the lower part of the upper Emsian (Lahnstein Substage). Palaeoecologically, it shows the presence of this cosmopolitan and long-ranging genus in the proximal to medial eurhenotypic facies, which reflects shallow and near-shore settings of Benthic Assemblage (BA) zones 2 and 3.
