Multiple teeth distributions of a milling cutter and dynamic cutting behaviour characteristics

Due to the influence of tooth errors, multiple teeth distributions exist along the axial direction of a milling eutter. The milling cutter with multiple teeth distributions under Vibration exhibit multi temporal characteristics in cutting behaviors, resulting in complex and uncertain Variation in cutting layer thickness and morphology distribution during cutting. Based on the cutter structure and tooth error, a sequence of multiple teeth distributions along the axial direction of the cutter was obtained, and a calculation model for cutting layer thickness and morphology distribution of multiple teeth distributions under Vibration was constructed. Cutting behaviors in the cases of single tooth, multiple teeth unequal pitch, and multi teeth equal pitch distributions along cutter axis were revealed. The influence mechanism of error and Vibration on instantaneous cutting layer thickness and morphology distribution diversity was elucidated and experimentally verified. The results indicate that the above method can reveal the dynamic cutting behaviors of multiple teeth distributions cutters under Vibration and the formation processes of milling surfaces. © 2024 Chinese Vibration Engineering Society.
