Contribution to the Calculation of Maximum Possible Substitution of Coke by Oil While Preserving Unchanged Blast Furnace Productivity.

The maximum oil quantity which may be injected into the blast furnace hearth without changing the furnace production rate has been calculated. This maximum value is computed from the difference between the maximum specific quantity of the reducing gas actually achieved and the specific gas quantity corresponding to the minimum specific coke consumption necessary to insure counterflow in the blast furnace bath.
