摘要
The use of heavy oils (M100) for firing structural ceramic products is complicated by the fact that the oils normally contain 1-5% of ballast water. This water, when it appears in the oil nozzles of the firing furnace, destroys the normal operation of the furnace, and leads to sudden variations in the temperature regime and to other undesirable phenomena. Practical experience has shown that an attempt to remove the water and the oil have densities which differ only very slightly. A promising way of removing the harmful effect of ballast water on the oil combustion process is to transform the water into a finely dispersed phase, evenly distributed throughout the whole mass of oil, i. e. , to form a water-oil emulsion. Studies on the use of water-oil emulsions as an energy fuel have been carried out at the Institute of Fossil Fueld. Water-oil emulsions were made by pulsating pumps, driven by electric motors.
