Along with the advances in bridge technology, greater demands are made on the structural and functional properties of expansion joints. This article describes an expansion joint of a new type which incorporates a link mechanism. The device's outstanding function is to smoothly follow such bridge displacements as shrinkage, revolving, etc. Experimental results of the tests conducted to determine the expansion joint's strength are reported.
