General Equations Governing the Flight of Transport Aircraft.

The aircraft is considered as a rigid solid of variable mass performing a symmetrical motion in a vertical plane. The Direct Operating Cost (D. O. C. ) is used as the performance criterion. A procedure based on the gradient method is then proposed for solving a system of differential equations of the optimum trajectory.
