NEW APPROACH TO ROLL-UP CALCULATIONS OF VORTEX SHEETS.

Careful discretization of two-dimensional vortex sheets has led to the discovery of the cause of inconsistency of the multi-vortex representation of such sheets. The method described here is applied to the calculation of roll-up of the trailing vortex sheet shed from an elliptically loaded wing. Contrary to the results obtained with multi-vortex methods, calculations are found to converge as the discretization is refined. 15 refs.
