摘要
A series of laboratory evaluations of seven kinds of lubricants, including mineral oil, natural fat, synthetic oil and compounded oil, were carried out by employing the hot rolling oil tester, among other things. Based on the results of this evaluation, further tests were carried out on beef tallow and a mineral-vegetable oil compound in the actual rolling mill. The tests show that the rolling force was decreased by 10 - 20% and the roll wear was reduced by 70%. The coefficient of friction between the roll and the strip was estimated using Orowan's rolling theory. Coefficient values of 0. 4 - 0. 637 for nonlubricated conditions, and of 0. 25 - 0. 35 for lubricated conditions were obtained.
