摘要：

A review of the current railroad cars used for commuting and within secondary rail network is given. The advantages offered by rail motor cars powered by diesel engines are pointed out. Design suggestions are given to improve interiors for comfort, as well as springs and suspensions for damping of vibrations and noise abatement. The second generation of the NE-VT cars is described.
