Widespread installations of hydraulically powered, self- advancing roof supports bring into focus the problems of maintaining required pressure in piping systems, supplying the hydraulic fluid. Since the pressure drop in piping depends on kinematic viscosity, type and volume of flow, and pipe's friction coefficient, paper presents guidelines for monitoring the system, dimensioning of pump and piping systems to safe- guard required, for operations of roof supports, pressure.
