Since the introduction of SATT (Strowger Automatic Toll Ticketing), manual testing methods have been the means for routine testing of outgoing toll trunks from a tributary class 5 central office to a class 4 SATT office and testng incoming toll trunks from tributary offices to a SATT office. The increase in DDD (Direct Distance Dialing) traffic in recent years has made manual testing methods impractical. The Type 71A and the Type 72A portable test sets have been designed to help reduce manual routining and provide a practical and more efficient method for testing both outgoing toll trunks at the tributory office and incoming toll trunks at a SATT office.
