Estimation of storage coefficient and transmissivity of the lower El Socorro aquifer

This paper describes the mathematical basis and results of a step drawdown pumping test that was carried out in April, 1974, for estimating the first approximation values of Storage Co-efficient and Transmissivity of the lower confined El Socorro aquifer. The estimated values of these two parameters were used in a study on the optimisation of pumping operations in the El Socorro aquifer system. The validity of the test results is based on the assumption that for the test well effective radius was equal to its actual radius. The paper ends by pointing out the sources of errors in the estimates and with a recommendation for carrying out standard long duration tests for improving the accuracy of the same.
