In alloy 45Kh2N12GS softening of the hot deformed austenite (and the martensite resulting from it during cooling) takes place in two stages during soaking treatment after deformation. Due to static recovery, about a fourth of the original increase in the yield point is eliminated in the first few seconds, and subsequent softening (by as much as 60%) is the result of developing recrystallization. HTMT is most effective if the post-deformation soaking time can be shortened by freezing-in the ″hot work″ structure.
