A new halftoning method which combines error diffusion and orthographic techniques is proposed in this research. By using the well known error diffusion technique, our resulting images are of good quality. But the time complexity for error diffusion increases exponentially as the size of the image increases. With this an a motive, we present a new halftoning method, called the Orthographic error diffusion tone scale generation method, which applies orthographic technique to the output of a modified multi-threshold error diffusion method. This new method performs more efficient than the original error diffusion technique and still provides high quality printing results.
