The PHABSIM (Physical Habitat Simulation) system is a computer simulation system developed to assist individuals and agencies involved in instream flow aspects at water management, fisheries management, and outdoor recreation. The system simulates the physical habitat of fish and the recreation potential of a stream as a function of flow in the stream. The simulation is based on velocity, depth, and substrate in segments of the stream which are transferred to the physical habitat for fisheries, and recreational potential of the stream. The system consists of four main computer programs and twelve helper programs used to manage the flow of information through the system.
