The influence of uniaxial elongation (10 to 160%) on the efficiency of various antiozonants was studied in radiation and sulphur-crosslinked synthetic rubber SKI-3 (poly-cis-1,4-isoprene). The activity of the antiozonant was evaluated from the time dependence of stress. The experimental data are explained by assuming that the antiozonant fulfils two simultaneous functions by reacting with ozone and participating in the formation of a protective surface layer.
