Based on the analysis of a breakdown in a 150 kV network, conditions of the onset of internal overvoltages, dangerous to insulation, attaining fivefold values of the phase voltage are determined. Recommendations are stated aiming to improve the reliability of the operation of the electric equipment of a system.
