摘要
It has been shown that an ensemble of two-level systems interacting via the average field and characterized by nonzero diagonal elements of the dipole moment may undergo a phase transition induced by an external electromagnetic field. This model is used in the present paper to show that in the case of Rochelle salt and similar ferroelectric crystals a phase transition to the ferroelectric state can be induced at a constant temperature on application of an external monochromatic field of frequency in the middle infrared range and intensity of the order of 10** minus **4 W/cm**2.
