With large containerboard assets in all of the world's major regions except Asia, Jefferson Smurfit Group plc (JSG) CEO Michael W.J. Smurfit said that the company will expand into Asia within a year and become a significant player in China within 10 years. The company would look at several possibilities including partnerships and greenfield projects. The countries that could be the business locales of Smurfit include China, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam.
