The dredge, Depoe Bay, described was built in Portland, Oregon. The dredge was named after a small fiord-like inlet along the coast. Its 12-foot by 30-foot hull was built of wood. It also had hand-operated wooden spuds and a ladder of reinforced pipe. It had no cutter, only a simple agitator powered by a jack shaft driven by the gasoline powered main pump engine. Its capacity was estimated at 20 cubic yards per hour through some 800 feet of pipeline and with a maximum lift of 10 feet. Loading of the starboard hull of the dredge is shown. The starboard hull and its loaded equipment has a road contact weight of 70,350 pounds.
